I'm Art.

Lawyer. AI ethicist. Data humanist.
Crochet artist. 2x dog-dad. Psych dropout.

I work at the intersection of humans and AI, specifically how the data flowing between them gets owned, priced, and governed. I run Vana, a decentralised network that has given 1.5 million people ownership of what they generate online. Before that: corporate law, nation-building in Timor-Leste, and a Harvard thesis on the human labour layer underneath modern AI.
